EVERY HERO NEEDS A TEAM

The first to announce a mission. Sometimes the last to notice the answer beside him. His cape doesn’t have a map. Good thing Annie brought her nose.

When Seamus becomes Super Seamus, Annie becomes the Wonder Pup, little cape and all. A useful nose. Glorious black curls. A firm belief that lunch is an emergency too.

Meet the Feline Flash. Seamus supplies the heroic introduction; Finn escapes the cape before it’s over. His window is the lookout. The faucet is the refreshment stand. Seamus is the staff.

Seamus’s seven-year-old sister usually watches his grand missions with an eye roll. Sometimes she has to help. She makes sure he hears about it. He gives as good as he gets.

Big imaginations are welcome. Cats on the counter are another matter. Mom and Dad help when a mission needs grown-up hands, and remind the team that even superheroes have to clean up.
Familiar neighbors, school friends and everyday family life give every adventure somewhere to begin, and a home to come back to.

FOR PARENTS AND GROWN-UP READERS
Announce the mission. Pause for the sandwich. Try “To the rescue!” in your biggest voice, and later, your smallest.
There’s room here for the reader to perform and the child to get the joke first.
